Antibiotic resistance is an emerging problem in veterinary medicine.  Canine pyoderma is a common disease for which antibiotics are often prescribed.  This presentation will cover factors that promote antibiotic resistance, antibiotic selection, managing underlying causes of pyoderma, the use of immunostimulants and the use of topical therapy.  Attendees will be challenged to utilize strategies that minimize systemic antibiotic prescriptions in veterinary dermatology.
