DoveLewis Third Thursday Rounds

Initial Fluid Resuscitation in the ER

Explore the history, classification and use of various fluid therapies, including current controversies and adverse risks. Learn practical recommendations for fluid therapy in the initial resuscitation stages of patients presenting to the ER. To better understand the arguments for these recommendations, the discussion will include the physiologic response to trauma, end-goal-directed therapy, novel methods for calculating blood volume, and the importance of vasopressor therapies.

Attendees Recieve one unit of CE for each meeting (please note: DVMs cannot earn CE credit by attending technician lectures, but technicians can earn CE credit by attending DVM lectures).

Rounds cover all topics in veterinary medicine. DVM lecture topics are geared towards veterinarians, while our technician lecture topics are geared toward technicians and support staff. Technicians and support staff are welcome to attend DVM lectures and vice versa. DVM and technician lectures rotate monthly (unless a management topic is being offered instead). At least two management lectures are offered per year.
