Surgical Extraction Techniques in the Dog

Abstract:

This 2-day laboratory based course with a small lecture portion is designed to give veterinarians hands on training for mucoperiosteal flaps, extractions, surgical extractions and complication extraction management. The majority of the course is a hands on laboratory. The course will begin with step-by-step presentation of mucoperiosteal flap creation, surgical extractions, regional nerve blocks, analgesia, and management of extraction complications.

Learning Objectives:

1. Participants will learn extraction techniques for all the canine dentition

2. Participants will learn regional analgesia and analgesia for oral surgery

3. Participants will learn how to manage complications of extractions such as retained roots, intruded tooth roots, and parasymphyseal fractures.
