The Veterinary Technology Distance Learning Program (VTDLP) is designed to take away the

academic and geographical barriers for those seeking to be veterinary assistants or credentialed

veterinary technicians by providing a program that can be completed while you are on the job with minimal disruption to your work and family routines. Each of the courses in the four levels of the program is 12 weeks in duration and the prerequisite and general studies courses are based on traditional 16 week terms.  Depending on personal and work schedules, students can usually complete one to four courses per semester. Students can expect to devote approaximately 4 to 6 hours per week to each course in studying, completing written assignments, examinations, and completing clinical assignments.”

assigned readings, homework assignments, paper/projects, exams, etc. The clinical mentorships

are where you demonstrate to the VTDL faculty and staff that you have mastered all of the

hands-on skills required of an entry-level veterinary technician. All VTDL graduates must

document acquisition of basic skills, typically by submission of video documentation that will be

assessed against a standard set of performance criteria. The mentorships are task-based,

rather than time-based and are intended to be completed at a veterinary facility at which you

are working or volunteering.”
