In response to the continued increase of COVID-19 cases and the ongoing efforts to navigate the pandemic, Oregon Occupational Safety And Health Authority (OSHA) has adopted a temporary enforceable workplace rule. The new rule is similar in many parts to the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) guidance that has been shared out over the past 7 months, including physical distancing and face coverings. Well, September was just terrible (we can all list off many reasons, so I won’t start). I thought things had surely hit a low point….and then I heard the news of the death of Ruth Bader Ginsberg. The PVMA Board of Directors is introducing a new mentorship program to support OSU Carlson College of Veterinary Medicine students during their 3rd and 4th years. Intention The goal of this program is to provide an opportunity for veterinary students to connect with veterinarians in the Portland metro area to gain insight and knowledge into the practice of veterinary medicine that is beyond the academic setting. Regional Fire Response Update: The PVMA is on daily calls with MAC-G (Regional Disaster Preparedness Organization Animal Multi-Agency Coordination Group) and the group is working very well together to ensure Clackamas County Dog Services especially, has the support and resources needs to care for evacuated animals. 2020 PVMA Awards This will be the seventh year the PVMA Board of Directors has honored our amazing members and affiliated individuals by recognizing those who have given to our community and profession in exceptional ways.
