2021 PVMA Pet Food and Supplies Drive

2021 PVMA Pet Food and Supplies Drive

Tis the Season of Giving!

2021 PVMA Pet Food & Supplies Drive

While many things have changed over the last nearly 2 years, we are committed to maintaining support of two organization that rely heavily on donated supplies and funds to do the important work they do – PAW Team and the Coffee Creek Puppy Program. Your donations to our holiday food and supplies drive will have a direct impact on these organizations and support their increasingly vital services.

For PAW Team especially, the need for their services will only continue to increase as people in our community are impacted by loss of work, income, and shelter more than ever. We are so grateful to this organization (and all our community members who volunteer with them) for helping those in need, care for their beloved pets.

To encourage safety and not ask any more of our veterinary teams, we will be inviting participation in a primarily virtual holiday drive again this year. See details below for links to donate to PAW team and the Coffee Creek Puppy Program! We still encourage and will help with pick-ups/hand-offs if your practice would like to do a clean-out of OTC items and food that has expired or been opened/returned. Please contact the PVMA office to coordinate a pick up.

The Portland Animal Welfare (PAW) Team saves lives, alleviates suffering, and keeps pets and people together by providing free veterinary care to the pets of people who are experiencing homelessness or extreme poverty. PAW Team provides free veterinary care through weekday appointments, weekend drop-in clinics, and offsite outreach powered by volunteers. PAW Team also maintains a donated pet supply bank, offering essentials to those in need. In 2021 thus far, PAW Team has provided vet care for nearly 1,000 individual pets and distributed over 19,000 pounds of pet food.

A group of female inmates at Coffee Creek Correctional Facility (CCCF), located in Wilsonville, raise puppies for Canine Companions. Canine Companions is a national non-profit organization that enhances the lives of people with physical, cognitive, and developmental disabilities by providing highly trained service dogs. The inmates raise the puppies for the first year and a half of the dog’s life. The inmate handler is responsible for the care and well-being of the dog 24 hours a day. PVMA member hospitals provide veterinary sponsorship while the dogs are in Oregon and the PVMA provides additional support throughout the year.
