Special Session: Technician Case Report Presentation

The OVTAA Technician Case Report Session at RCVC is designed to highlight the vital role of veterinary technicians through case-based learning, while intentionally supporting novice speakers and helping them gain conference-level experience. This session emphasizes technician-led nursing care, clinical reasoning, and professional growth in a supportive and encouraging environment.


OVTAA Technician Case Report Guidelines 
The OVTAA Technician Case Report Session at RCVC is designed to highlight the vital role of veterinary technicians through case-based learning, while intentionally supporting novice speakers and helping them gain conference-level experience. This session emphasizes technician-led nursing care, clinical reasoning, and professional growth in a supportive and encouraging environment.

Eligibility – Applicants:

  • Must be a credentialed veterinary technician 
  • Should not have previously presented at large regional or national conferences
  • May have experience presenting in:
  • In-hospital to peers
  • To technician students
  • Technician rounds or small-group settings
  • The goal is to provide technicians who are early in their speaking journey the opportunity to develop confidence and presentation skills in a peer-supported setting.


Case Criteria

  • Unique, educational, or challenging cases are encouraged
  • All species and disciplines are welcome (General Practice, ER, critical care, anesthesia, internal medicine, surgery, specialty, exotics, etc.)
  • Cases must emphasize technician-driven care, including:
  • Nursing assessments and monitoring
  • Technical skills and interventions
  • Critical thinking and clinical decision-making
  • Communication and patient advocacy
