Pet Dog Policy for Rose City Veterinary Conference

To ensure a safe, professional, and accessible environment for all attendees, the following policy applies to animals at the in-person Rose Veterinary Conference:

General Policy
While Holiday Inn Portland welcomes pets for hotel guests, personal pets—including dogs—are not permitted at this conference. The PVMA maintains a 20+ year partnership with
Canine Companions, one of the largest and most established service dog organizations in the country. In addition, several of our registrants will be accompanied by service dogs. Ensuring that these working animals and their handlers have a safe, accessible, and comfortable environment to navigate and fully participate in the event is a top priority for us.

Service Animals
In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA),
service animals are permitted. A service animal is defined as a dog that has been individually trained to perform specific tasks for a person with a disability.

Requirements for Service Animals

  • The service animal must remain under the control of its handler at all times.
  • The handler is responsible for the care, supervision, and behavior of the service animal.

Exclusions

  • Emotional support animals do not qualify as service animals under the ADA and are not allowed.
  • We will have two trained Canine Companions Therapy Dogs on site to visit with attendees part of the day.

Compliance
Conference organizers reserve the right to ask that any animal be removed if it poses a threat to the health or safety of others or is not under proper control.

For questions or to request accommodations, please contact the conference organizers in advance of the event.
