02 Nov Coffee Creek Puppy Program-Update and Gratitude
Like most everyone else this past year and a half, the Coffee Creek Puppy Program had to make some changes to navigate the evolving pandemic, but have successfully been able to move forward with the training of these Canine Companions’ dogs. The PVMA is proud to have been a partner of this program for the past 16 years and are immensely grateful to all PVMA member hospitals who have provided sponsored veterinary care, past and present!
Coffee Creek Correctional Facility is the state prison located in Wilsonville, Oregon. The puppy program was created in the late 1990s in partnership with Canine Companions, a non-profit organization that provides service dogs to adults, children and veterans with disabilities and facility dogs to professionals working in healthcare, criminal justice and educational settings. In 2005, the PVMA became involved. During the time the dogs are in training at the facility, veterinary care is generously provided by PVMA member veterinary hospitals. The PVMA provides additional support throughout the year, as needed, by collecting supplies for the dogs and helping manage any special needs that arise. This incredible program benefits all of those involved and touches many lives! We are so fortunate to be a part of it.
Thank you to our amazing member hospital for your support, we truly could not do it without you:
